Secound Week

This week I tried my hand at throwing. Richard my tutor has since told me that it takes at least a year of hard work to become any good at throwing, which made me feel better about my sorry excuse of an attempt. It was hard enough just to prepare the clay let alone produce something useable. First I kneaded the clay in the bulls head fashion then centred it on the wheel. Just to centre the clay took some time but once it was centred i was ready to go, only it had taken me all day to get that far and it was home time! I did produce some things that resemble vessels but none good enough to fire or think about using they were all recycled. 

I walked to USF which is the old sardine factory that has now been converted into many studios a cafe and theatre. Its location was beautiful on the waters edge with old relics of the sardine factory. I loved that decay, which reminded me of Venice with the water but an industrial mechanical version.
